753 Season

It’s that time of year again, 753 season! 753 (shichi-go-san) is a festival day in Japan for three and seven year-old girls and three and five year-old boys, held annually on November 15th to celebrate the growth and wellbeing of young children. Children dress up in traditional clothes and take a trip to the local shrine where their parents wish for healthy, happy lives for the children. Many parents like to mark the occasion by asking a photographer to capture parts of the day.

Although I don’t advertise such services I always get requests at this time of year to photograph 753 ceremonies. Here a few photos from one such ceremony this year.
