With the Olympics and Paralympics due to be held in Tokyo later this year (now postponed due to the current worldwide Covid19 pandemic), there is a lot of hype surrounding the qualifying tournaments across various sports. I was very lucky to be asked to shoot a string of these tournaments in the run up to the games to be used by Tokyo Metropolitan as coverage of the sports and the people and countries involved.
The tournaments I photographed included Karate, Judo, Table Tennis, Goalball, Para-Badminton and Tennis. Unfortunately, but understandably, the rest of the tournaments I was due to photograph were suddenly canceled as the situation surrounding Covid19 got progressively worse.
It was a lot of fun working on this assignment for the time that I did, and it allowed me to try my hand at something I had very little experience in. I look forward to hopefully picking up where we left off once we have moved past the current situation and the games can be performed safely at a later date.
