Ota Mokko

Some photos from a recent (early 2018) project I did with CNN and Japanese car maufacturer Lexus, documenting the traditional crafts that influence aspects of their contemporary car design.
Lexus site the decorative Japanese woodcraft practice of marquetry known as Yosegi as one of their core influences.

Mr Ota, who is based in Hakone, is generally considered one of the modern-day masters of this 400+ year-old craft.
